Dr Ana Terres

Assistant National Director at Health Service Executive (HSE)

Dr. Ana TerrĂ©s has over twenty five years of experience in research, research administration, support, management, governance and strategic development of research. She joined the Health Service Executive as Assistant National Director to lead the Research and Evidence function and set up the HSE National Research and Development office in 2018. She has led the development of the HSE Action Plan for Health Research 2019-29, the HSE National Framework for the Governance, Management and Support of Research (2020) and the HSE National Policy for Consent in Health and Social Care Research (2022) among other key research strategic initiatives.  

Before moving to the HSE she was Director of Research at Dublin City University, where she worked closely with the Vice- President for Research and Innovation and played a key role in the development and implementation of the university research strategy and the restructuring of research support services.  

Ana received a BSc, MSc and a PhD from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) and moved to Ireland as a Marie Curie fellow. She worked in biomedical research at Trinity College Dublin (Department of Clinical Medicine, St. James Hospital) for seven year and she co-founded Innovadis, a TCD biotecnology start up.
