Dr Angela Mc Ardle
Senior Technical Officer,
Mass Spectrometry,
Technology Services Directorate,
University of Galway

Angela is a highly skilled technical scientist at the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, where she currently supports targeted small-molecule analysis using triple quadrupole mass spectrometers and will soon expand into multi-omic research with state-of-the-art high-resolution instruments. With over 10 years of experience in cutting-edge research technologies, Angela supports diverse scientific projects by providing expertise in; experimental design, sample preparation, mass spectrometry method development (targeted and untargeted) and data analysis.
Angela holds a Ph.D. in Biomolecular and Biomedical Science from University College Dublin, where her research focused on the applying mass spectrometry to discover and verify protein biomarkers diagnostic of Psoriatic Arthritis. At the Mass Spectrometry Core, she plays a critical role in maintaining and optimising state-of-the-art instrumentation, training researchers in specialized methodologies, and driving innovation through collaborative efforts with investigators from academia and industry.
Her contributions have enabled advances in the development of robust high throughput workflows in proteomics research with several co-authored publications in high-impact journals. Angela is passionate about fostering a collaborative research environment and empowering scientists to achieve their experimental goals.
Outside of work, Angela enjoys hiking, racket sports and participating in initiatives that promote equality in STEM.
