College of Science and Engineering International Scholarships Overview:

The College of Science and Engineering at University of Galway is committed to attracting high-calibre students from around the world.

To this end, we offer a range of excellence and merit-based scholarships to students from Outside of the EU countries as follows:

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences offers:

1 Excellence Scholarships of €40,000 (€10k per year over 4 years) in each of the following courses (total = 5),

And €20,000 Merit Scholarships (€5k per year over 4 years) for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the following courses:

  • BSc Agricultural Science
  • BSc Biomedical Science
  • BSc Biopharmaceutical Chemistry
  • BSc Biotechnology
  • BSc Genetics & Genomics

    • 1 Excellence Scholarships of €10,000 in each of the following courses (total = 4),

    And €2,000 Merit Scholarships for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the following courses:

    The School of Computer Science offers:

    3 Excellence Scholarships of €40,000 (€10k per year over 4 years) and €20,000 Merit Scholarships (€5k per year over 4 years) for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the:

    3 Excellence Scholarships of €10,000 in each of the following courses (total = 12),

    and €2,000-€5,000 Merit Scholarships for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in each of the following courses:

    The School of Engineering offers:

    1 School of Engineering Excellence Scholarship of €40,000 (€10k per year over 4 years) for successful Outside of the EU applicants from the following courses:

  • BE + ME Biomedical Engineering
  • BE + ME Civil Engineering
  • BE + ME Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • BE + ME Electronic & Computer Engineering
  • BE + ME Energy Systems Engineering
  • BE + ME Mechanical Engineering
  • BE Engineering (Undenominated)

    • 1 School of Engineering Excellence Scholarship of €10,000 for succesful Outside of the EU applicants across the following courses,

    And €2,000 Merit Scholarships for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the following courses:

    The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences offers:

    2 Excellence Scholarships of €20,000 (€5k per year over 4 years) and 5 €8,000 Merit Scholarships (€2k per year over 4 years) for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the following courses:

    • BSc Financial Mathematics and Economics
    • BSc Mathematical Science

    1 Excellence Scholarship of €10,000 and €2,000 Merit Scholarships for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in the following courses:

    The School of Natural Sciences offers:

    1 Excellence Scholarship of €40,000 (€10k per year over 4 years) across the following courses,

    And €20,000 Merit Scholarships (€5k per year over 4 years) for all successful Outside of the EU applicants in each of the following courses:

    1 Excellence Scholarship of €10k across the following courses:

    And €2-5k Merit Scholarships for all succesful Outside of the EU applicants in each of the following courses:

    The GY301 Bachelor of Science offers:

    1 Excellence Scholarship of €40,000 (€10k per year over 4 years) and €20,000 Merit Scholarships (€5k per year over 4 years) for all succesful Outside of the EU applicants

    Terms and Conditions

    All students must accept their offer and pay their deposit to avail of their postgraduate merit and postgraduate excellence scholarships.

    All eligible candidates who accept their offer and have paid their deposit by Friday 1 May, 2026, will be automatically considered.

    By accepting an excellence scholarship you will be included in our panel of international student ambassadors, and will be required to participate in marketing activities such as providing testimonials/creating content of your University of Galway experience, participating in informational webinars, welcoming delegations of visits from your home country to the campus, and engaging with prospective students on the ambassador platform.
