Digital Dreams to Real World Lessons: My Galway Story

Leaving the vibrant city of Mumbai for the scenic charm of Galway marked the beginning of a journey that would redefine both my personal and professional horizons. Pursuing the MSc in Digital Marketing at University of Galway was a step into a new culture and academic environment, one that fostered creativity, confidence, and a deep sense of belonging. Galway quickly became a second home, where learning extended far beyond the classroom.

Academic Growth and Learning
The MSc in Digital Marketing brings together creative thinking with data-driven analysis. The programme equips students to succeed in a constantly changing digital world. Consistency with coursework, collaboration on group projects, and active engagement with lecturers helped me the most.

If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to seek guidance from professors early on. The faculty in Galway are approachable and bring extensive real-world experience that helps bridge theory with practice, something that became invaluable as I prepared to enter the industry.

Employability and Building Career Readiness
Another turning point in my academic path was the Employability Award offered at the University. Attending the CV Skills sessions helped me hone how I presented my strengths and experiences. Indeed, these insights helped me secure a role at Rhenus Logistics before my final results were released.

The skills I have been able to develop during my MSc, especially in CRM management, client handling, and data interpretation, find practical application almost daily in the role I am playing today. The work-oriented slant given to the course made the transition into a professional role smooth and rewarding.

Beyond the Classroom
Outside of academics, I have had a wonderful community through the University of Galway Cricket Club, serving first as Secretary and now as Club Training and Development Officer.

The club taught me leadership, teamwork, and resilience while giving me lifelong friendships. One of those moments was doing a photoshoot for the university with our team when we met Soham Desai, the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Indian Cricket Team - an inspiring moment which reflected Galway's diverse and dynamic student life.
