Dr Ann Ryan is the Director of Strategic Development, College of Science and Engineering at University of Galway.
Dr Ryan is responsible for strategic planning and strategy implementation in the College of Science and Engineering. Key aspects include providing leadership, support and advice to the Executive Dean, Directors of Research Institutes and Heads of School in defining integrated strategic objectives and facilitating the implementation of these objectives through an effective planning and implementation process. Dr Ryan is responsible also for the direction and coordination of the College administrative function.
Prior to becoming the Director of Strategic Development, Dr Ryan held a number of other roles in University of Galway. These include External Engagement Officer, Head of Academic Affairs and Policy, and Head of Research.
Dr Ryan earned her BSc and PhD in Microbiology at University of Galway and undertook Postdoctoral Research at the University of Virginia and University College Cork and held a lecturing role in University of Limerick. Dr Ryan was a member of the Working Group that developed the Business Plan for the Institute for Health Discovery and Innovation.
