Dr Catherine Houghton

Catherine is a Senior Lecturer and a registered general and children's nurse. Catherine has years of clinical experience as well as teaching and supervising experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, winning the NUIG President's Teaching Excellence Award in 2016. Catherine teaches on our Person-Centred Care and Searching, Synthesing and Appraising Evidence modules. Catherine’s current research interests are in qualitative research and evidence synthesis, trial methodologies and psychosocial research in dementia. She is the Co-Convenor of the Cochrane Qualitative Implementation Methods group.

Catherine is a huge animal lover and always somehow manages to get a spot supervising the animals in the ‘Animal Room’ at our annual START competition winners day.
