Dr Clodagh McDermott

Bio:

Dr Clodagh McDermott graduated from the National University of Ireland Galway in 2016. In addition to her medical degree, Clodagh holds a master’s degree in Clinical Research (MSc.). She was appointed to the Geriatric Medicine Higher Specialist Training Scheme in 2021 and has a particular interest in stroke medicine, machine learning and artifical intelligence.

Dr. McDermott is an ICAT fellow undertaking her PhD within the Neurovascular research group. She is exploring the combination of multi-modal diagnostics in early stroke diagnosis through utilisation of machine learning techniques.

Current Research Interests:

Dr. McDermott's particular interests include utilising machine learning and artifical intelligence techniques in early stroke diagnosis via the combination of multi-modalities.

Awards and Notable Achievements:

Prof Smyth was a recipient on the HSE-HRB National Academic Specialist Registrar Fellowship Program, which funded his higher medical training and PhD, and also was the first Irish-based recipient of a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Career Development Fellowship, which funded his postdoctoral work.
