Dr Sandra Ganly

National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health (NIPC) | Senior Research Fellow

Dr. Sandra Ganly is the CEO of the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health (NIPC), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing the incidence and burden of cardiovascular disease in Ireland through collaborative partnerships with both national and international stakeholders. 

NIPC’s strategic vision is to improve cardiovascular health through a life-course approach to personalised care across all levels of prevention. NIPC focuses on merging evidence-based research and data-driven clinical insights with patient-specific perspectives to adapt preventive healthcare delivery models within community settings.  

Dr. Ganly is a Senior Research Fellow at University of Galway with over 20 years’ experience in cardiovascular risk-factor research, clinical research, and medtech innovation. She played a key role in establishing BioInnovate Ireland, a Stanford Biodesign-inspired programme, supporting health technology innovators to spin-out companies. Sandra continues to support University of Galway spinouts in the areas of stroke, brain injury, cardiovascular risk management and women’s health to translate scientific research into real-world impact.  

Since her appointment as CEO of NIPC, Sandra continues to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration across innovative research, clinical practice, and health policy to ensure scientific advances translate into equitable, accessible patient-centred preventive care strategies.
