On Sunday, November 9th the campus of the University of Galway hosted the Galway Science and Technology Festival Exhibition.

GNC researchers Yajaira Feller Sanchez and Jose Carlos Casas Martinez were delighted to coordinate an exhibition stand inspiring young people of all ages to develop an interest in neuroscience.

Visitors to the exhibition stand used a robotic hand controlled by their own hand movements.

Speaking about the event, GNC PhD student Yajaira Feller Sanchez said: "Participating in the Galway Science Festival has been an amazing and memorable experience. I had so much fun explaining how the nervous system and muscle contraction work in the body to the little ones. It was also truly rewarding to see how engaged and enthusiastic the children were while learning these concepts with the robotic hand. Without a doubt, one of the best parts of the festival was the joy of fostering curiosity about science in young minds."
