Gary has over 15 years of senior-level experience managing research and innovation programmes including international research strategy and major funding initiatives at University of Galway, across roles such as Head of International Research Programmes in the University’s Research Office, Commercialisation Executive and currently as Head of Strategic Research Awards in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. 

In these roles, Gary has a track recording of developing and implementing successful institutional research initiatives across European funding programmes, large-scale collaborative projects, and national schemes such as Research Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
