Irish Brain Bee Competition 2026
The Irish Brain Bee competition took place on the 9th of March. The Brain Bee is an international competition, which originated in the USA and has spread around the world. This was the fifth occasion that it took place in Ireland.
The Brain Bee was conducted virtually and had 17 participants who were largely transition year students from Salerno College Galway, Calasanctius College Oranmore, Colaiste Iognaid Galway, Loreto College Wexford, Mercy College Sligo and St. Andrews College, Dublin.
It consisted of four rounds of questions drawn from a Neuroscience textbook that the students had been studying since January. The winner of the competition was Joyce Han from St. Andrews College who will go forward to represent Ireland at the International Brain Bee World Championships to be held later this year. Second place was Olivia Rocha da Rocha Brito (Mercy College, Sligo) and third place was Rayhana Soe Paing (Salerno, Galway).
