Dr Jamie Reilly is a highly skilled technical scientist specialising in Imaging and Sequencing Technologies at the Genomics Screening Core. With over 10 years of experience in cutting-edge research technologies, Jamie supports diverse scientific projects by providing expertise in key technical areas such as data acquisition and advanced analytics.
Jamie holds a PhD in Regenerative Medicine from University of Galway, where their research focused on cellular pathways in Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC, also known as ASD). At the Genomics Screening Core, Jamie plays a critical role in maintaining and optimising state-of-the-art instrumentation, training researchers in specialised methodologies, and driving innovation through collaborative efforts with investigators from academia and industry.
Their contributions throughout the PhD have enabled publications in autism pathway analysis (PLOS1) and Biobanking (Molecular Autism), with co-authored publications in high-impact journals pertaining to cellular pathways in pluripotent stem cell models (NRXN1) and Animal models (ULK4). As Postdoc, Jamie was involved in the setup and use of Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) as part of the Cell image Project in conjunction with Beckman Coulter and Waters Corporation, and the work was presented at the 2nd annual meeting of the International Mass Spectrometry Imaging Society (IMSIS) and Irish Mass Spectrometry Society (IMMS) in 2024.
Jamie is passionate about fostering a collaborative research environment and empowering scientists to achieve their experimental goals. In addition, Jamie has also been involved in autism advocacy throughout his career, with most recent involvement in the Collaborative Autistic Research Empowerment (CARE) project with PPI ignite and the Irish Centre for Autism Research and neurodevelopment (ICAN).
