Value

The total value of the Scholarship will be 50% of your tuition fees. The tuition fees are available on the course pages. Living expenses, travel costs etc. are not included. If a student is applicable for more than one University of Galway scholarship, then the greater of the two should be selected; they cannot be combined.

Tenure

A Scholarship is tenable only at University of Galway in respect of the programme for which it is offered. It may not be transferred to any other programme. The Scholarship is only available in the year in which it is offered. It may not be deferred.

Condition of Award

Recipients must register on the programme for which the scholarship was awarded by the relevant registration deadline. Failure to register by this deadline will result in the scholarship being withdrawn. Scholarship decisions are final.

Interviews: Some programmes may require an interview. Applicants selected for interview will be contacted by the relevant programme team after their application has been reviewed.

Capacity Constraints:

All awards are subject to programme capacity.

Nature of Award

The scholarship will normally be applied as a reduction of the tuition fee. Where an eligible recipient has already paid the relevant amount, a refund may be issued where appropriate.

What is the value of the scholarship?

The scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fee for an eligible taught master’s programme in the College of Science and Engineering. It does not cover accommodation, living expenses, travel or other associated costs.

No. The scholarship is valid only for 2027/28 entry and cannot be deferred to a later academic year.

Can I transfer the scholarship to another programme?

No. The scholarship applies only to the programme for which it is offered and cannot be transferred to another programme.

Will I need to attend an interview?

Some programmes may require an online interview as part of the admissions or scholarship process. Applicants selected for interview will be contacted by the relevant programme team.

How will the scholarship be applied?

The scholarship will normally be applied as a reduction of your tuition fee. In some circumstances, where an eligible student has already made a payment, an appropriate refund may be issued.

Where can I find the tuition fee for my programme?

The applicable Non-EU tuition fee is displayed on the individual programme page. The scholarship will cover 50% of that tuition fee.

Does the scholarship cover living and travel costs?

No. Students are responsible for their accommodation, living expenses, travel, immigration, insurance and other costs.

Can I remain in Ireland after completing my master’s degree?

Eligible non-EEA graduates of recognised Irish Level 9 programmes may apply to remain in Ireland under the Third Level Graduate Programme for up to 24 months, subject to the immigration conditions in force at the time. This allows graduates to seek graduate-level employment and, where eligible, apply for an employment permit. Applicants should consult the official Irish Immigration Service for current information.
