Project Details:
MEDALLOY is a European Industrial Doctoral Network that will train 9 Doctoral Candidates (DCs) across 6 countries, focusing on Nitinol, a high-performance material vital for cardiovascular medical devices. The project addresses key industry challenges by:
- Developing enhanced Nitinol alloys
- Optimising manufacturing processes
- Improving defect tolerance and fatigue life prediction
- Creating validated simulation tools
Supported by a consortium of academic, clinical, and industrial partners, MEDALLOY offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary training programme. This includes technical research, clinical trials, ethics, sustainability, communication, and entrepreneurship. The goal is to equip DCs with the skills to become leading innovators in the European Nitinol medical device sector, with a clear path to commercialisation and exploitation of their research.
Applications are now open! The closing date for round 1 of applications is 1st February 2026 at midnight GMT.
