7th Nov, 2024 In a Department of Health press release Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has published recommendations from the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group (NCTOG) to support the expansion of clinical trials in Ireland.

On 11 July 2024 the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, established the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group (NCTOG) which is tasked with developing recommendations to increase the number of commercial and noncommercial clinical trials of investigational medicinal products taking place in Ireland.

This group has now issued interim recommendations.

I am delighted to represent the Institute for Clinical Trials on the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group and to see our collective work to date reflected in these interim recommendations, which have been supported by Minister Donnelly and the Cabinet. These steps underscore the critical role that streamlined processes and clear policies play in enhancing clinical trial activity in Ireland and improving patient access to leading therapies.
