Prof John Kilmartin - Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Clinical Trials, University of Galway.  

Prof Kilmartin is currently focused on the opportunity for clinical trials for innovative medical technologies in Europe/Ireland.  He formerly served as Vice-President of Regulatory Affairs at Medtronic, where he led an international team of regulatory professionals in developing and implementing regulatory strategies.  

He is currently an independent MedTech executive with Kilmartin MedTech Partners. In this role, he supports medical technology companies in developing regulatory, clinical, and market access strategies. He also advises several organizations in Lifesciences and Training/Education.    

John has worked in the medical technology industry for over 30 years with particular emphasis on US, European and emerging market regulatory frameworks. He has worked with various companies in the areas of vaccine development, in-vitro diagnostics and medical devices.  At Medtronic, he led a team of regulatory professionals who developed and executed on regulatory strategies with US FDA, European Notified Bodies and other regulators. He has a particular interest in high-risk Class III cardiovascular devices, catheter-based technologies and drug-device combination products.  John has presented at multiple scientific, physician/medical and regulatory affairs conferences over the past 25 years. He is a graduate of both University of Galway and the Royal College of Surgeons RCSI in Dublin.
