Dr Saskia Lippens is the Deputy Technology Director at VIB Technologies, Belgium. She earned her PhD in Biotechnology at VIB. Saskia's passions are deeply rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration and the creation of frameworks to attract, nurture, and shape the talent essential for driving the technologies of the future.
Dr Lippens began at VIB 2012 when she joined the endeavor to launch VIB's BioImaging Core. Initially, her primary focus revolved around the implementation of volume EM and the development of correlative light and electron microscopy workflows. In 2017, she became the Head of the Bioimaging Core, and in 2023, she rose to Deputy Technology Director at VIB Technologies.
Saskia experiences first-hand how life sciences and technology have become intertwined. She developed a particular interest in technology during her postdoctoral studies at both Ghent University and the University of Lausanne.
