The award winning Career Development Centre at University of Galway aims to provide students with quality career guidance and information and is focused on facilitating and empowering you to manage your own career development and make effective career transitions.

Key services include CV workshops, interview preparation, one-on-one career support, and events. In the academic year 2024-2025 alone, they hosted 446 events, including 4 flagship career fairs with 158 employers, and had over 32,500 engagements with students!

Unique to the University of Galway, the Career Guidance Centre has a dedicated Global Employability Team that provides tailored employability advice and guidance to international students to support their transition into employment in Ireland, as well as to those seeking career opportunities abroad. They provide needs-based support, guiding you in exploring career opportunities, understanding the job market, and connecting with potential employers. From refining your applications to preparing for the recruitment process, they equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in your career journey.

Their impressive collection of digital tools and platforms, including the hugely popular Employability Award. This award recognises what you have learned and the skills you have developed through work and extra-curricular activities while at University of Galway. The Award is designed to prepare you directly for the job market by helping you recognise and develop your employability skills through workshops and events, highlighting your work experience and leadership roles and showcasing what you can offer to employers. There are five elements to the award, and these can be completed at your own pace and fit around your schedule. The Employability Award culminates in a ceremony at the end of the academic year, a fantastic opportunity to recognise your achievement and meet fellow awardees. In 2025-2026, there were 650 Employability Award recipients.

 A new addition to the digital toolkit is the GoinGlobal Platform. With this, you can access expert guides for 120+ countries, including visa rules, CV tips, interview customs, and job boards, helping you to build cultural awareness and navigate international job markets with confidence. Especially useful is the Culture Wizard learning tool, useful if you’re travelling abroad!
