Swapping Mumbai for the MSc Marketing at University of Galway

As someone who grew up amidst the bustling energy of Mumbai, transitioning to the laidback charm of Galway was a big leap of faith but has turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. From the moment I set foot on this beautiful island nation, I knew I had found something special.
Of course, there were initial anxieties. Moving halfway across the world to a new culture can be daunting, but the warmth and openness of the Irish people quickly eased my worries. Everyone I’ve met, from the friendly faces on the streets of Galway to my incredibly supportive lecturers, has been so welcoming. Not to mention, the friends I’ve made here have become like family away from home. They’ve been my rock, my sounding board, and my partners in crime as we navigate this new chapter together.
Ireland itself is simply breathtaking. The lush green landscapes, rolling hills, and charming villages all feel like something out of a storybook. But Galway, with its vibrant arts scene and lively pubs, has a unique energy that’s both exciting and comforting.
University of Galway has played a huge part in why I feel so at home here. The campus is stunning, a blend of historic architecture and modern facilities. It’s a top-ranked institution renowned for academic excellence, which gives me confidence in the quality of education I’m receiving. The lecturers are passionate and knowledgeable, and the emphasis on practical skills and real-world applications is exactly what I was looking for in a Marketing programme. I’m particularly enjoying the module on Services Marketing, and Mr. Canniford’s lectures have been incredibly insightful.
Beyond academia, I’ve been really impressed by the work culture in Ireland. There’s a strong emphasis on work-life balance, which is something I truly value. People seem genuinely happy and fulfilled in their jobs, fostering a sense of collaboration and mutual respect that creates a positive and productive environment. This is something I hope to emulate in my career – perhaps even by starting my own marketing agency here someday.
Choosing to study the Msc in Marketing Management at University of Galway was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It wasn’t just about the course itself; it was about embracing a new culture, forging lifelong friendships, and immersing myself in a country that has truly captured my heart. It goes without saying that it’s a decision I’ll cherish forever.
