Civic and Public Engagement

YOUNG PEOPLE

There is an extraordinarily strong, diverse, ambitious, and successful community of staff and students in the College of Science and Engineering leading public engagement with young people in STEM at local, regional, national, and international levels.

From our on-campus museums, to our hugely popular Cell Explorers, and Reel Life Science, through to our Youth Academy and the Galway Science and Technology Festival, explore a world of ways we reach out to young people from primary school through to TY and senior-cycle students.

Cell Explorers

Cell Explorers is an education and public engagement programme informing, inspiring and involving young people in molecular and cell biology.

Cell EXPLORERS has developed nationally and now includes 10 volunteering teams based in higher education institutions. Since its creation in 2012, it has involved more than 850 University of Galway volunteers who engaged at least 26,000 members of the public in hands-on science.
